These are my ideas that guide my thinking.  These are insights that I have gained over the years.  Although the advice is not necessarily unique, it is relevant.  Maybe something here may help you too.
  1.  You can not have a rational conversation with an irrational person.
  2. Some people (or organizations) are the way that they are because that is how they want to be. You can not help someone that does not want your help.
  3. Not every battle is worth fighting.  Save your energy for the things that matter and let the other stuff go.
  4. You can learn something from everyone and every situation... even if it is how NOT to behave.
  5. Treat everyone with respect.
  6. Someone else's bad behavior does not give you an excuse to also behave badly.
  7. Do the right thing... even when the right thing may not be the best thing for you.
  8. Know your own priorities and act accordingly.
  9. Just because you can does not mean that you should.  Trust others to do their part. And know when to say "no"!
  10. Take time to enjoy the journey.  It is not just about the destination.
